Changes to the Blog

Can you spot the changes? We are so excited to be expecting a new baby! The baby is due May 23rd, so it is still really early. We are just so happy, and feel so extremely blessed to be expanding our family. This baby is an answered prayer, and truly a gift from God.
I feel okay. I never got real morning sickness with Brady, and I am really getting it this time. It has no boundaries, morning, day, middle of the night. It is so worth it, and will be all better soon.

We had our first doctors appointment yesterday, and we got to see the baby, and its little heartbeat. So little and tiny, but yet so perfect already.

We are thinking about not finding out the sex of the baby. For the crazy planner (me), this is crazy, but I also think it will be a huge surprise. Brady is super excited too!

Blogging might be light, I have been going to bed, right after Brady, and we have also been really busy this week. I have more things to share, so I will do that soon.

Random Family Updates

I thought that since a few weeks ago I shared a few random things about Brady, I would share things about the rest of the family.

1. Mom is coming - My Mom comes tomorrow, and we are very excited. I will share all our adventures while she is here, soon.
2. Working- I will be working soon! Just a few days a week substitute teaching, but still working. I am waiting on my substitute license renewal, which should be here soon. It will be nice to be working again, and the extra money will go to Brady's preschool fund so that will be great.
3. Next door neighbors house - The house next door to us has been vacant for 3 years. It is a sad sign of our economy.  The worst part about it is our strict HOA. They try to fine us for weeds in our yard, but we live next to the worst house in the neighborhood.
Here is the next door neighbors house.

And ours

That is all I am saying. We sent them these pictures and they took all the fines away, and someone came that next week to cut the weeds.
4. Dyson - I am in love with my new vacuum. It is the one thing I have found that can even try to get all our dog hair. If I would have bought this vacuum 4 vacuums ago I would not of had to have so many vacuums. I will never go back to another vacuum. Seriously if you are in the market for a vacuum, the extra money is worth it.
5. Jerm soccer - Jeremy has been playing in a coed soccer league. Their team is not as good as he would like, but he is having fun and it is excellent exercise.
6. Toilet seat - My big hiney broke Bradys toilet seat one night while I was giving him a bath. (I wasn't using the toilet, I was just sitting on the closed seat to give Brady a bath.) It snapped when I shifted. So when shopping for a new seat, we decided to go with a very Brady friendly seat. It is his bathroom, and one he will share with any future siblings, so we think that a child seat is perfect. It can be a kid seat or adult seat, and the kid seat is stored in the lid. It is really neat, and Brady loves it. He has gone potty in it two nights in a row, so maybe it was worth it.
7. Camera- I have several friends and family members who have digital SLR cameras. I never really cared for expensive cameras, but ever since I started blogging and noticed the difference a good camera can make, I really want one. Maybe one day, we will see.
8. Houston for Christmas - We are going to Houston for Christmas, and we are getting excited. We are driving this time, and we hope that Brady does well. It will be awesome to see family and friends, and celebrate the season with them.
9. Books - I have been reading a ton of books within the past year, and I can't get enough. My new favorite has been inspirational fiction. They have an entire section at the library and I love the mix of fiction biblical based stories.
10. Heat wave - We have had a heat wave here lately. I do not remember it being this warm this late in the year for as long as we have lived here. I am not ready for winter but I am really ready for fall, and the coolness that comes with it.

So not too much going on, but we are loving our life, and feel so blessed.

Marvelous Monday

Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul. Proverbs 29:17

The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother. Proverbs 29:15

Brady is two. He is testing us and learning every day. Honestly it would be so much easier to let him do what he wants. Discipline is hard. Sadly a lot of our society just gives up. But I know that all of the hard work will be worth it.
These verses are just a few that talk about discipline. I am so glad that I have a parenting blue print from the word of God. Because of this blue print we will have a well behaved child and a happy family. Most importantly I know that we are raising a man of God, and he always brings delight to my soul.

Music Day

I meant to get to this post sooner, but now it has already been two weeks since this happened! Time flies, Oh well.

Two weeks ago Brady and I went with Cousin Zack, Aunt Jen, and Nana to a fun music program. It was in a town called Castle Rock, in between here and Denver. It was at a castle with an amazing view. Sadly they were not offering tours to all the toddlers, I can't imagine why not, but it was still neat to see. The program was put on by the Denver brass, and I was a little worried the kids would not be able to sit through it. But it was geared towards the under 5 crowd, and they did a great job. The boys learned all about brass instruments. Just yesterday Brady talked about a trumpet.

Listening to the instruments.
Still listening
Marching to the music
Being panthers, to pink panther music
After the program we had lunch, and then they were doing hayrides and you could meet some cows.

Muscle Men
We fed that momma cow, and yuck, she slobbered all over me!
A 3 day old calf, so cute.
Zack with the calf
On the hayride.
We had a really nice day, and even learned a bit, thanks Nana for a great time!

Susan G. Komen Race

What a great day!
We woke up earlier than normal this morning to get ready because I was racing in the 5K Susan G. Komen race. It was so neat and inspiring to see so many people coming together to race for such a great cause. I was slightly disappointed because it did not work out that anyone could race with me, but it was still a great run. I did do well in my fundraising efforts, and that is the most important thing.
I raced on behalf of my aunt who is currently winning her battle with breast cancer, and she was in my thoughts through out the race. I encourage you to get involved in someway with this organization. Don't wait until you know someone with breast cancer, start now!
I think I am brave just for posting this terrible pic!
The rest of our day was great with, breakfast out, a fantastic message from our pastor that I got to watch on the Internet, lunch out with family, and visiting and playing with Great-Grandpa and Grandma Yeats. Brady is worn out, but he had a fantastic day too. Monday stay away!

Steamboat Springs

Two weeks ago we went on a small family trip to Steamboat Springs. It was a nice relaxing little trip and a perfect get away. Enjoy hearing all about our trip via pictures.

While walking through town, we found a horse for Brady to ride, since no one would let him go on a real horseback ride. He loved it though.
On our short but very pretty hike at fish lake falls.
Nana and Gramps with the falls in the background, if you look really close.
Brady checking out the river
Our little rock climber
At Strawberry Park hot springs, it was really neat
We loved this Brady sized little pool
So beautiful
Life is hard for a two year old, sometimes you just need to relax
Over looking the springs, very natural and beautiful
At the farmers market to get our steak, corn, green bean, and bread dinner. So fresh and yummy, what a great chef husband I have.
Brady and Abe, just hanging out
Shopping is tiring work
Gramps and Brady walking down to the creek outside the back of our townhome. It was so relaxing listening to the creek.
Brady took this and many more lovely pictures on our bike ride.
Nana and Gramps on their first bike ride in a long time, and they loved it!
Brady loves bikes!
And of course no vacation is complete without smores!
What a great trip. We loved to explore new parts of Colorado, and I hope we get to try out somewhere new soon.

Marvelous Monday

Happy Labor Day! I hope that you are all enjoying a special day with your family!
Proverbs 31: 10-31
So if you have read my craft blog, you know I love this passage, and I think it is a great thing for every woman to read, and know well.

Specifically today, "She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls." Proverbs 31:15

But, the first time I read this I thought, sure, it is easy for her to do all of this, she has servants! I could be a virtuous woman if I had servants too! Then I thought a little more about it... I do have servants. I take them for granted, very often. Let me introduce you.

Clean Running Water - no fetching water from the unclean river here

Stove, oven, microwave - Can you imagine gathering wood, then having to make the fire, and then finally cooking?

Indoor sanitation and plumbing - Can not imagine life without this, I can hardly handle camping.

dishwasher - A lot of Americans do not have this.

washer and dryer - I think I would spend all day just doing laundry without these

vacuum - my new favorite

Have you ever thought about life without these modern conveniences? It is hard to imagine, yet most of the world is still without most of these things. I am so blessed to have these "servants." I will try to remember how blessed I am to have these things to make life easier, instead of dreaded the housework I have. Thank you God for these modern conveniences, and the blessings of our nation.

Dear Blog

Dear Blog,

I am so sorry I have neglected you. I miss you really, and I have so much to tell you. But I am busy.
I will tell you all about our vacation to Steamboat Springs, Brady's fun music day, a baseball game, the balloon classic, and even more soon. One day I will pay attention to you again, but for now I will see you when I see you!
