So tired!

We are so tired. It is day 7 of the big boy bed, and honestly it is going horribly. We are all exhausted. I cannot figure out where it all went wrong, but it was about a week ago. Brady does not like his bed.

At first we let him cry it out. That worked when he was a baby. But this time, he ended up crying 3+ hours a day.

Tuesday night he cried for an hour, and finally fell asleep. He was very destructive during the crying. We could tell from underneath his door, that his lamp was on, which we did not do. He has a Jack-n-Jill bathroom, so we were able to go in and turn the light off, and this is what we found.

We moved him back to his bed, and once again the crying started, an half hour later he fell finally asleep in front of the door again.

Wednesday, I bought him a rail for the bed. I was hoping that it would add some security for him, and also he would not be able to roll out. It ended up just being a way for him to be more destructive, and do this.

Once again, he spent most of the night sleeping on the carpet in front of the door.

Thursday night we tried a different approach. I waited in his room, slowly moving away from him, as he fell asleep. He woke up around two, and I tried the same approach. This time it would not work, and he was not obeying so I left him in there. He finally fell asleep at 3.

Last night, the same approach worked well, and it only took ten minutes for him to fall asleep. He work up around 11 and I got him to go back to sleep. He woke up around once again around 2. I had backed all the way out of his room in my 20 minute process, and he was pretty much asleep. Then big horse, Coco, comes up wagging her tail like a bat against the wall, and of course wakes Brady up. (I almost strangled her!) I had enough, then it was Jerm's turn. He fell asleep in Brady's room, and they both woke up on the floor of Brady's room this morning.

Also naps are thirty minutes or less.

We are struggling. I would gladly trade the sleep habits of newborn Brady, than this phase. "This to shall pass" comes into my head many times a day.

Our new plan is, sit with Brady while he falls asleep. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, or his nap, then he has to cry it out. His bed time is 8-7, and his nap time is 1-3.

This will work, but we may have to buy a ton of ear plugs first.

Big Boy Bed - day two

Today we converted the crib to a big boy bed. (See the previous post on why.)

Last night Brady did well sleeping on the mattress on the floor. This morning he woke up at 6:15, but he went back to sleep in our bed for a little while. After breakfast I was able to convert his crib to a bed and he seemed to like it.

For nap time he fell asleep in the car and I was able to set him down in his crib without a problem. A few minutes later, while cleaning my bathroom, I heard a bang but no crying. I peeked in his room, and he was still asleep but on the floor. Poor thing had fallen out of his bed. He woke up very upset later, but he was able to get back to sleep.

This evening we played in his bed for a while, but he was not happy about going to sleep. He cried for about 35 minutes, but he finally is quiet.

Jeremy was sad listening to him, so he layed by his door, to wait for him to fall asleep. I guess Jerm fell asleep too, and this is what I found when I went to check on them.

Hopefully the rest of the night goes well. I know this is the best, but the process is heart breaking.

Bye Bye Crib :(

This is not the happy day I thought it would be.

I thought that we would all be excited about Brady being a big boy, and moving to a big boy bed. I thought we would be able to have time to talk about it, he could understand it, he could pick out some new fun sheets.

Nope, none of that.

Let me start with the past few weeks. Sometimes after Brady wakes up he invites me into his bed for a snuggle, so sweet. Lately he asks me into his bed, then once I am in, he makes me quickly get out. How rude! I realized he was doing this to watch me, and see how I was getting out of his crib. Clever guy!

After we got back from our trip he has been having a harder time sleeping. I thought it was just an adjustment, because normally he is awesome. Normally you tell him it is nap time, and he tells Belle and Coco night-night, and we go to read a book and I set him in bed. I tell him I love him, and he says night-night. Easy.

Lately it has been hysterics for nap time. Yesterday he cried for what seemed like forever, and finally fell asleep. He took an hour nap and the cried hysterically until we got him up. Last night he was so tired that he went to sleep pretty well.

That brings us to today. This morning he woke up about 6:15, an hour and a half before normal, and cried once again hysterically until we got him. At church I had to get him out of his Sunday school class because he was crying so much. He fell asleep on the way home, but as soon as I tried to lay him down in his bed he freaked out. When it was nap time he cried for 45 minutes, but finally fell asleep.

45 minutes later he woke up and was crying. We were going to leaving him to cry it out, when we heard a bang and him at his door. We opened it to see a naked baby out of his crib. He had taken off all of his clothes and diaper, fallen asleep, wet the bed, and woken up in it. I guess he finally had the motivation because he managed to break out of his crib. We changed his sheets, redressed him, and tried to put him back down. We then witnessed him climb out of his crib 3 more times. I guess nap time was over.
I got a picture and video of the crazy boy breaking out. Before you judge, I am not a mean Mom, and I don't let my baby normally cry hysterically while dangling out of his crib. This was the 100th time he had done it, and if you notice, he stops crying as soon as he is near me. Also no real tears, he could be an actor.

This evening I tried to put him down early because I knew he was tired, and once again he would not stay in his crib. After an hour and a half of trying to get him to go to sleep, I finally took his mattress out. I put it on the floor, and closed the door. He only cried for a minute. I am scared to go up there and see where he is sleeping.

So any suggestions? It is a convertible crib so we are going to convert it tomorrow to a toddler bed. Brady has always been such a great sleeper, any ideas on what happened? Is this a toddler thing? I need him to take naps for my sanity!

***Update- I just checked and Brady is sleeping on the mattress, on his pillow. Thank you God, maybe this will work after all!***

Jerm's 30th Birthday

This year we had a blast celebrating Jeremy's special day with a vacation in Vegas. Brady stayed with his Nana and Gramps, so it was our first trip ever away from him. It was hard, and we missed him greatly, but we still had an amazing time. Brady even had his first sleep over with his cousin Zack.

We did not have much planned for the trip. We mostly ate while in Vegas. Ironically, I worked out really hard so that I could go to Vegas and look great, but we just ate the whole time and I gained a bunch of weight! We went with Jerm's younger sister Julie and her boyfriend Geoff. We arrived at 12:30 a.m. Vegas time on Friday night, due to a delayed flight. Even the airport was crazy at 1 in the morning! There must have been 750 people in the taxi line, but it moved fast.

We stayed at the Monte Carlo, it had a great location on the strip, and was pretty nice. Friday night we walked around for a little while, but we were all so tired we did not stay out long.

Saturday we had an amazing breakfast at a place called, mon ami gabi. Everything was so good, and we enjoyed sitting on the patio on a gorgeous day. After breakfast we went to check out the sights and do a little shopping. That afternoon we hung out at the pool, and relaxed. Saturday night we had a nice dinner out and walked around some more. We walked miles, so that night we all slept well.

Sunday was Jerm's actual birthday. He wanted to go to the Wynn buffet. It was sooo much food, but very yummy. We also got show tickets for later that night and hung out by the pool. We went to a cirque show. It was so good that now we want to see them all! Jeremy's birthday dinner was at Gallaghers steak house. Once again, amazing. (I told you all we did was eat!)

Monday was our last day and we did some more shopping.

It really was a great trip but we missed our boy so much, and it is good to be home. Now for the diet to begin!

We also celebrated Jerm's birthday with family. What a great birthday, hope he enjoyed it.

Happy Birthday Jerm! We love you so much!

Vegas!

We are headed to Vegas for the weekend to celebrate Jeremy's 30th birthday!

Happy Birthday Jerm!

Super excited about the trip and the quality time with my best friend. Brady will be staying with his Nana and Gramps and I am sure he won's miss us a bit. I will share pictures when we get back. Have a great weekend!

Easter

We are back! I really enjoyed my time off from the blog, but I also truly missed it.

So I will catch you up slowly on the fun things we have been doing, but I will first start with our amazing Easter weekend. There are lots of pictures, and a video, but I can't help it Brady is just too cute.

Saturday morning, we went to an Easter egg hunt at our gym. The kids were limited to only 5 eggs a piece, but that was plenty for Brady. He enjoyed doing all of the other activities, and eating some yummy candy.
He was slightly overwhelmed by everything.

We went down the big slide a few times.

Brady loves inflatables! Especially when they have eggs filled with candy!

He loved this bunny.

But he did not love this one.

After our early egg hunt, Mommy and Daddy needed coffee, so we had a little starbucks coffee break. Then we headed to the library for another Easter egg hunt. Kids went wild, and there were no egg limits, Brady got plenty of eggs.

Later that day, we watched cousin Chelsey play soccer, and went out to lunch. It was a fun day and we were all exhausted and enjoyed an afternoon rest.

Sunday, we woke up and Brady found his Easter basket and the eggs that the Easter bunny had hidden for him. After lots of candy, we helped out at the nursery at church, and Jeremy met us later for an awesome Resurrection service. We were able to skype with Grandma for her birthday, and we also got to see all of our Texas family on the computer, which was nice. Brady had a nap and then we had another egg hunt and dinner with family.

Before church, too bad he never got to eat this bunny. It was perfectly ripped open while we were at church. One or both of the dogs did not feel very well after that!

One of my favorite parts of the day was watching the kids trying to change Brady's diaper. They did a good job, I think I have future baby-sitters.

It was a great way to end a wonderful day and weekend. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter as well.
